Go Waikiki Shuttle Mercedes Sprinter van at the DoubleTree Alana Waikiki driveway on Ala Moana Boulevard

Your Trusted DoubleTree by Hilton Alana Waikiki Beach Shuttle Service

Your badge is good Tuesday through Thursday. Your family lands Friday morning, and by Friday afternoon nobody wants to hear another word about breakout sessions. That trip — half work, half vacation, one hotel — is the trip the DoubleTree by Hilton Alana Waikiki Beach was built for, and it is most of what we carry to 1956 Ala Moana Boulevard. Guests here are rarely only conference attendees and rarely only beachgoers. They are usually both, in the same week, sometimes in the same day.

That mix is what makes the arrival worth planning. The Alana sits at the Ewa end of the strip, on a six-lane arterial, at the point where Ala Moana Boulevard stops being a highway and starts being Waikiki. The Hawaii Convention Center is an eight-minute walk in one direction and the sand is an eight-minute walk in the other, which is exactly why people book it — and it is also why the property runs valet only, with no self-parking at all. Arrive without a plan and your first Hawaii decision is whether to pay for a car you will walk past for four days.

Go Waikiki Shuttle has been driving this stretch of Ala Moana Boulevard since 2008. We are locally owned, PUC-licensed, and we run Mercedes Sprinter vans out of an office on Aala Street, not a dispatch app somewhere else. We handle the airport end of your trip on a flat roundtrip rate booked before you fly, so the conference half and the vacation half both start the same way: someone is waiting, the bags go in, and the driving is not your problem.

The Run from HNL to 1956 Ala Moana Boulevard

Coming out of Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, the Alana is one of the first Waikiki addresses a van actually reaches. The route runs Nimitz Highway to Ala Moana Boulevard and stays on Ala Moana straight through — past Kewalo Basin and Ala Moana Beach Park — to the hotel driveway just before the Ala Wai Canal bridge. There is no turn into the Kalakaua Avenue grid, which is where most Waikiki transfers lose their last ten minutes. The same run serves the properties either side of the hotel — our Ilikai Hotel shuttle and Aqua Palms Waikiki shuttle take the same Ala Moana Boulevard approach.

In ordinary traffic the drive runs about twenty to twenty-five minutes. Weekday mornings between roughly 7:30 and 9:00, and again from 3:30 to 6:00, the Nimitz corridor carries the commuter volume the Hawaii Department of Transportation routes through town and the same run stretches toward thirty-five. We build that into the pickup time rather than discovering it with you in the van, which matters more on this page than on most, because a Wednesday 8:00 a.m. general session does not wait.

Departures reverse it. From the Alana you are travelling against the morning commute, so a departure pickup here is usually a shorter, calmer trip than the arrival was. Our office is staffed from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Hawaii time and the vans themselves run around the clock, so a 4:00 a.m. red-eye departure or a midnight arrival are both normal bookings, not exceptions.

Drop-Off at a Valet-Only Address

Unlike most of the properties we serve, the Alana has no self-parking — valet is the only option, and the hotel’s own site currently lists it at about $55 plus tax per night. That single fact changes the arrival more than anything else about the building. There is no garage ramp to sort out, no ticket, no lift to a parking level. We pull into the hotel’s own driveway off Ala Moana Boulevard, unload under cover, and the bell staff take it from there.

It also changes the maths on a rental car. A car parked at the Alana costs the rental itself plus roughly $55 a night before you have driven anywhere, and the two places most guests here actually go — the convention center and the beach — are both on foot. For a four-night stay that is well over $200 in parking for a vehicle sitting in a valet queue.

One practical note about the address: Ala Moana Boulevard is a fast six-lane road, and it is not a street where a driver can idle at the kerb waiting for you to come down. For departures we ask that you be in the lobby at the confirmed time rather than watching for the van from your room. Our driver will come in for you if you are travelling with someone who needs help, but the van itself belongs in the driveway, not stopped in a traffic lane.

Eight Minutes to the Convention Center, Eight Minutes to the Sand

The Hawaii Convention Center at 1801 Kalakaua Avenue is roughly half a mile from the hotel door — an eight-minute walk across the Ala Wai. Waikiki Beach is about the same distance the other way. The Alana sits between the two, and that position is the whole reason it books the way it does.

It is worth being precise about what that means, because a close hotel and an adjacent hotel are different products. The properties directly across Atkinson Drive from the convention center are the ones conferences name in their housing blocks; guests there walk out of a session and into a lift — the Ala Moana Hotel shuttle service covers that corner if a conference put you in the official block. The Alana is a short walk further, which is why it is often the better-value room during a large convention week and why it fills with people who wanted a Waikiki address rather than a conference address.

For us that translates into a specific kind of booking. Arrivals here cluster the day before a session opens and the day after it closes, and departures spread out across the following weekend as the leisure half of the trip finishes. If you are on that pattern, tell us the conference dates when you book — it is usually the fastest way for us to get your pickup times right without a second exchange of emails.

Two Arrivals, One Hotel: Booking a Split Trip

Because so many stays here are half work and half holiday, we get a request at the Alana that we rarely get anywhere else: two arrivals into the same room. One traveller lands Monday for the meetings, the rest of the party lands Thursday for the vacation, and everybody leaves together on Sunday.

That is straightforward to arrange, but it is two separate arrival transfers plus one departure transfer, not a single roundtrip booking with a note attached. Book the first arrival and the shared departure as one reservation, then book the second arrival on its own, and put both under the same last name so our dispatch can see they belong together. If the second group is larger than the first, book by the party actually travelling on that leg — our rate is set by the passengers in the van on the day, not by the size of the room.

The same logic covers the reverse case, which is just as common here: the family flies home Saturday while one person stays through a Monday debrief. Two departures, two pickup times, one hotel. If you would rather talk it through than build it in the form, call or text (808) 797-7950 and we will lay the legs out for you.

What Travels With You

The flat rate includes two checked bags per person plus a carry-on, which covers a conference roller bag and a suitcase without anyone doing arithmetic. Trade-show material is worth a heads-up: a pop-up banner case or a pair of sample cases will fit a Sprinter easily, but telling us in advance is what stops us from sending a van already loaded with someone else’s golf bags.

Oversized items — surfboards, golf clubs, boxed bicycles — travel with us for a small additional charge, flagged at booking rather than discovered in the driveway. Given how many stays here run business into leisure, the golf clubs are a genuinely frequent request, and they are far easier to accommodate with a day’s notice than at the kerb.

Child car seats and boosters are a paid add-on selected at booking, not something we keep spare in every van. If the vacation half of your party includes small children, add the seats to the reservation for the leg they are actually travelling on. Our drivers install them and check the harness is correctly seated before the van moves.

Noon Check-Out and the Departure Pickup

The Alana checks out at 12:00 p.m., an hour later than most Waikiki hotels, and check-in is 3:00 p.m. That extra hour is quietly useful and it is worth using deliberately rather than by accident.

On arrival, a morning mainland flight will usually put you at the hotel well before 3:00 p.m. The front desk will hold your bags, and most guests walk to lunch or over to the convention center to register early rather than sitting in the lobby. Book your transfer for your actual landing time; there is nothing to gain by delaying it.

On departure, do not tie the pickup to check-out. Leave your bags with the bell desk at noon, take the afternoon, and book the van for the time your flight needs. For a mainland departure we generally suggest a pickup about three hours before wheels-up, which allows for the drive, the bag drop, and the security queue at HNL without a sprint. For an interisland hop, two hours is usually comfortable. We confirm the time with you the day before by call or text to (808) 797-7950.

Our pickup at the airport was awesome considering that Diego had to wait 45 minutes for the rest of our party to arrive. For our departure, Ray was about 10 minutes earlier than scheduled so we had a pleasant/ unhurried ride to the airport from KoOlina. Considering the cost of car rentals these days, this was an absolute bargain and a very Aloha experience. Will definitely use their services again. Thank you Diego, Ray and rest of the staff.

Was picked up at the Honolulu airport with no delays — easy ride to Waikiki. Thanks for the ride!

Frequently Asked Questions

We pull into the hotel’s own driveway off Ala Moana Boulevard and unload under cover, then the bell staff take your bags in. The Alana is valet only — there is no self-parking on the property — but that has no effect on a shuttle drop-off, because we are not parking. We stop, unload, and go. If anything it makes the arrival simpler than at hotels where the drop-off shares a lane with a garage ramp. For departures, please wait in the lobby rather than outside: Ala Moana Boulevard is a six-lane road and a van cannot sit at the kerb, so the driver will come in for you.
The convention center at 1801 Kalakaua Avenue is roughly half a mile from the hotel door, an eight-minute walk over the Ala Wai. With a roller bag and a laptop case it is a comfortable walk on flat pavement, and most of our guests do it. What it is not is the across-the-street proximity of the hotels inside the official conference housing block, so if you are carrying a full exhibit case rather than a bag, plan a taxi for that one trip. The centre’s own directions and parking page lists its garage at around $15 per entry if you are driving in for a single session.
Do not tie the pickup to check-out at all — that is the main thing. The Alana’s noon check-out gives you an extra hour over most Waikiki hotels, and the bell desk will hold your bags after that for as long as you need. Book the van for the time your flight requires. For a mainland departure we usually suggest a pickup about three hours before wheels-up, which covers the drive, the bag drop and security at HNL. For an interisland flight, two hours is generally enough. We call or text you the day before on (808) 797-7950 to confirm the time.
Yes, and it is one of the most common requests we get at this property. Book the first arrival together with the shared departure as one reservation, then book the second arrival as its own booking, and use the same last name on both so our dispatch can see they are connected. Price each leg by the passengers actually in the van that day rather than by the size of your room. The reverse works the same way — family home Saturday, one person out Monday, two departures. If it is easier to talk it through, call or text (808) 797-7950.
For most stays here, comfortably so. Valet at the Alana runs about $55 plus tax per night and it is the only parking option, so a rental car costs you the rental plus roughly $220 in valet across a four-night stay before you have driven anywhere. Our roundtrip shared rate is one flat rate for one or two passengers plus a set charge for each additional passenger, it covers both airport legs, and current rates are shown in the online booking form at gowaikikishuttle.com/reserve-online/. Given that the convention center and Waikiki Beach are both walkable from the door, most guests here find the car spends the week in a valet queue. If you want a vehicle for one day-trip, hiring it for that day is nearly always cheaper than parking it all week.
About twenty to twenty-five minutes in ordinary traffic. The route runs Nimitz Highway onto Ala Moana Boulevard and stays on Ala Moana the whole way, so it avoids the Kalakaua Avenue grid that slows transfers to hotels deeper in Waikiki. During the weekday commuter peaks — roughly 7:30 to 9:00 in the morning and 3:30 to 6:00 in the afternoon — allow closer to thirty-five minutes. We build the current traffic pattern into your pickup time rather than quoting you a best case.
Yes. The Alana holds meeting space for groups of up to about 200, so we regularly carry a breakout team or an exhibitor crew staying here while the bulk of a conference is housed at another hotel. Give us the party size and the arrival window and we will assign vehicles rather than splitting you across whatever is free. For groups travelling together, call or text (808) 797-7950 instead of booking each person separately — it is faster and it keeps everyone in the same van.
Book the transfer for your actual landing time and let the hotel hold your bags. The front desk at the Alana takes luggage before check-in, and this is a good hotel to be early at, because you are eight minutes’ walk from the convention center in one direction and eight minutes from the beach in the other. Register early, get lunch, or go and sit on the sand. There is no benefit to sitting at the airport waiting for a 3:00 p.m. check-in you cannot make happen any sooner.
Nothing you need to do about it. We track inbound flights in real time and move your pickup to your actual landing time, and there is no waiting fee for a delay that is the airline’s doing. If you have your bags and you are ready, call or text (808) 797-7950 from baggage claim and we will bring the van round. If your flight is cancelled outright rather than delayed, let us know as soon as you can so we can move the booking rather than cancel it.
The rate covers the transfer itself, two checked bags per person plus a carry-on, and flight tracking. There is no airport surcharge, no fuel surcharge and no mandatory gratuity. Extras are the things you choose: child car seats and boosters are a paid add-on selected at booking, a fresh flower lei greeting can be added for arrivals, and oversized items carry a small additional charge. Hawaii General Excise Tax applies, and your exact total is shown before payment at gowaikikishuttle.com/reserve-online/.
Yes, for a small additional charge on top of the flat rate. Golf clubs come up often at this hotel because so many stays here add a leisure weekend onto a work week, and a Sprinter takes bags comfortably. Boxed bicycles and board bags travel too. The one thing we ask is that you flag oversized items when you book rather than at the kerb, so the van sent to you has the space rather than arriving already loaded.
Both. One-way shared service is priced in the online booking form at gowaikikishuttle.com/reserve-online/, where you can book it directly. One-way is worth considering at this hotel specifically — a fair number of guests here arrive for a conference and then leave from somewhere else entirely, whether that is a neighbour-island flight or a second hotel for the vacation half of the trip.
Car seats and booster seats are available as a paid add-on, selected when you book rather than requested on the day. Choose them per leg, which matters here because the family half of a split trip often arrives on a different day from the working half — add seats to the leg the children are actually on. Our drivers fit the seat and check the harness is correctly seated before the van moves.
Forty-eight hours ahead is enough for most bookings, but convention weeks at this hotel are the exception: when a large conference opens, arrivals concentrate into a narrow window on one or two evenings, and a week or two of notice makes a real difference. Same-day requests are often possible — call (808) 797-7950 and we will tell you honestly. Cancellations carry a 15% processing fee; the full terms are on our fulfillment policy page.
Three reasons that apply particularly here. Price certainty: our rate is fixed at booking, while a rideshare out of HNL on a convention eve is priced by exactly the demand that convention created. Capacity: a Sprinter takes your whole party and its luggage in one vehicle, where a car may take one person and two bags. And an expense claim with a fixed, pre-approved figure on it is a different document from one with a variable fare and a surge multiplier. Booking and Confirmation, Start to Finish

The trips that go wrong at this hotel are almost never the ones where something dramatic happened. They are the ones where nobody booked anything. You land at 7:00 p.m. the night before a 8:00 a.m. session, join a taxi queue with four hundred people who were on the same three flights, and watch a rideshare fare climb while you stand there. It is a bad hour, and it is entirely avoidable for the price of ten minutes before you fly.

We are an Oahu company, not a booking platform, and we have been doing this since 2008. We know what a conference week costs a person in sleep, and we know that the half of this trip your family is on matters more than the half your employer is paying for. Both halves start at the same driveway on Ala Moana Boulevard, and we would like to be the reason neither one starts badly.

Three steps

  • Book online — gowaikikishuttle.com/reserve-online/ takes about three minutes and shows your exact total before payment. To book by phone instead, call (808) 797-7950.
  • Confirm the day before — call or text (808) 797-7950 the day before your arrival, and again the day before your departure, to confirm times.
  • Call on landing — once you have your bags at HNL, call or text (808) 797-7950 and we will bring the van round. International travellers can reach the same number on WhatsApp.

Why guests at the Alana book with us

  • Locally owned and operated in Honolulu since 2008

  • PUC-licensed and commercially insured, which most travel policies require
  • Two checked bags per person plus a carry-on included in the rate
  • Split arrivals and split departures handled as a matter of routine
  • WhatsApp available for international travellers
