Go Waikiki Shuttle Mercedes Sprinter van at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani porte-cochere on Kaiulani Avenue

Your Trusted Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Shuttle Service

The Sheraton Princess Kaiulani does not sit on the sand, and the guests who book it know that going in. They are trading a beachfront address for a room a block inland at the corner of Kalakaua and Kaiulani Avenue, and putting the difference toward a longer stay, a bigger room, or a family of five instead of a family of three. It is also one of the largest hotels in Waikiki — 1,142 rooms spread across the Ainahau Tower, the Diamond Head Wing, the Princess Wing and the Kaiulani Wing — built on the grounds of ʻĀinahau, the royal estate of Princess Victoria Kaʻiulani, and open since June 1955.

That combination is exactly where airport transportation goes sideways. A rideshare driver pulls up on Kalakaua Avenue, where there is nowhere legal to stop, and a family with four suitcases and a stroller ends up hauling everything down a crowded sidewalk looking for the real entrance. Arrivals land well before the 3:00 p.m. check-in with nowhere to put their bags. Departures get quoted double at 5:00 a.m. for the same trip that cost half as much on the way in.

Go Waikiki Shuttle has run airport transfers on Oahu since 2008. We are locally owned, PUC-licensed, and we drive Mercedes Sprinter vans that swallow a family’s luggage without anyone holding a bag on their lap. We also know the Princess Kaiulani’s entrance is on Kaiulani Avenue rather than Kalakaua, and we pull straight into the porte-cochère.

Arrival: HNL to the Kaiulani Avenue Porte-Cochère

The Princess Kaiulani sits roughly seven miles from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, and the route almost never varies: H-1 East out of the airport, off at Exit 23 for Punahou Street, then down through Waikiki to Kalakaua Avenue. The part that matters happens in the last thirty seconds. We turn off Kalakaua onto Kaiulani Avenue, and the hotel’s covered drop-off is immediately on the left, with the self-parking entrance just past it.

Plenty of drivers do not know that. They stop on Kalakaua because that is the address the map shows, which leaves you on a sidewalk with your bags a full block from the bell desk. Our drivers pull into the porte-cochère, unload under cover, and hand your luggage to the bell staff. Clear of traffic the drive runs about twenty minutes; through the afternoon backup on the H-1 it is closer to thirty-five. We plan for the second number.

Departure: Early Pickups from a 1,142-Room Hotel

Meanwhile, departure is the direction most guests underestimate here. Check-out is 11:00 a.m., and a hotel this size empties into one lobby and one covered driveway on a side street. On a heavy morning the bell desk queue alone can eat fifteen minutes before you reach the curb.

So we build that in. For a mainland flight leaving between 8:00 and 11:00 a.m. — which is most of them — we will usually recommend a pickup that feels early by about half an hour compared to what a mileage estimate suggests. That buffer covers the bell desk, the Kaiulani Avenue turn, and the H-1 westbound merge at Nimitz. You wait a little at the airport instead of watching the clock in a lobby line. When you confirm the day before on (808) 797-7950, tell us your airline and terminal and we will adjust the time to the actual check-in cutoff.

Your Tower Changes How Early We Pick You Up

Beyond the lobby itself, the property is not one building. The Ainahau Tower runs twenty-nine stories, the Diamond Head Wing adds another 210 rooms, and the Princess and Kaiulani Wings sit alongside them, each with its own elevator bank. A guest on a high Ainahau floor at 6:00 a.m. is competing for an elevator with several hundred other people doing the same thing.

This is a real scheduling variable, not a detail. Tell us which tower or wing you are in when you book and we will set the pickup accordingly — a few extra minutes for the upper Ainahau floors, less for the Diamond Head Wing and the lower wings. No sibling hotel on this coast has quite this problem, because very few of them are this large. It costs nothing to mention and it is the single easiest way to keep a 5:00 a.m. departure calm.

Built for Families and Multi-Generational Groups

Guests choose the Princess Kaiulani for the arithmetic. A room a block off the beach at a Waikiki-centre address is what makes a two-week trip, or a trip with grandparents and cousins attached, actually work. That shapes what our vans carry: more people, more bags, more car seats, and more of the odd-shaped items that come with a long family stay.

Our Mercedes Sprinters seat a full extended family together rather than splitting them across two rideshares that arrive fifteen minutes apart. Child car seats and booster seats are available at a small additional charge — select them at booking and tell us the ages so the right seat is installed and the harness checked before you arrive. Standard luggage runs two checked bags per person plus a carry-on, included. Surfboards, golf bags and bicycles travel for a small additional charge; just flag them at booking so we assign a van with the room.

What the Flat Rate Covers

Our Waikiki rate is one flat roundtrip rate, covering one to two passengers. That is both directions — airport to hotel and hotel back to airport — at a price fixed when you book. It does not move because your flight lands on a Friday afternoon, and it does not move because it is Christmas week.

Included: flight tracking, so a delayed or early arrival adjusts your pickup automatically; luggage handling at both ends; the standard baggage allowance above; and a licensed, insured driver who knows the island. Not included, and always optional: a fresh flower lei greeting at baggage claim, car seats, and oversized-item handling. One-way transfers can be booked online at gowaikikishuttle.com/reserve-online/, or call (808) 797-7950 to book by phone. Everything else, including group and private-transfer pricing, is priced live on our online reservation page.

Staying Car-Free at 120 Kaiulani Avenue

Finally, there is the question of whether to rent a car at all. The Princess Kaiulani shares its self-parking garage with the Moana Surfrider across the street, and covered self-parking runs roughly $45 per day with in-and-out privileges. Over a seven-night stay that is about $315 in parking before the rental itself, the gas, or the resort fee.

For most guests here the car never earns that back, because this corner is the most walkable address in Waikiki. The International Market Place is directly across the street. Waikiki Beach is a short walk through the Moana’s beach crossing. Kalakaua’s shopping and restaurants start at the front door. For the days you do want to leave the neighbourhood, we run private transfers and island tours, and our Honolulu airport guide covers terminal layout and baggage claim. Guests at the nearby Moana Surfrider, the Royal Hawaiian and the Waikiki Beach Marriott book the same way.

Our pickup at the airport was awesome considering that Diego had to wait 45 minutes for the rest of our party to arrive. For our departure, Ray was about 10 minutes earlier than scheduled so we had a pleasant/ unhurried ride to the airport from KoOlina. Considering the cost of car rentals these days, this was an absolute bargain and a very Aloha experience. Will definitely use their services again. Thank you Diego, Ray and rest of the staff.

Was picked up at the Honolulu airport with no delays — easy ride to Waikiki. Thanks for the ride!

Frequently Asked Questions

At the hotel’s covered porte-cochère on Kaiulani Avenue, not on Kalakaua Avenue. Coming from the airport we take Kalakaua and turn onto Kaiulani Avenue; the drop-off is immediately on the left, just before the self-parking entrance. This matters more here than at most Waikiki hotels, because the hotel’s mailing address puts it at the Kalakaua corner and drivers unfamiliar with the property often stop there instead — leaving you to carry bags a block down a busy sidewalk. Departures work the same way in reverse: we pull into the porte-cochère and load under cover.
Book it before you fly rather than sorting it out at baggage claim. Reserve at gowaikikishuttle.com/reserve-online or call or text (808) 797-7950 with your flight numbers, your passenger count, and the tower or wing you are staying in. We are PUC-licensed and locally owned, and we run Mercedes Sprinter vans between Honolulu airport and the hotel’s Kaiulani Avenue porte-cochère around the clock. Booking ahead fixes your price and puts a driver at the ground transportation area at your actual landing time, delay or no delay. Same-day and next-day requests are often possible — call and we will tell you honestly whether we can cover it.
Check-in at the Princess Kaiulani is 3:00 p.m., and a good number of mainland flights land hours earlier. The bell desk in the main lobby will hold your bags until your room is ready — we drop you and your luggage at the porte-cochère and you walk straight to it. From there Splash Bar & Bento on the pool deck serves all day, and the International Market Place directly across the street is a reasonable place to spend two hours. This is one of the practical advantages of the location: you are not stranded in a lobby waiting, because the whole neighbourhood is at the front door.
Yes. Book the pickup for the time that suits your flight, not your check-out. Leave your bags with the bell desk after you check out at 11:00 a.m., spend the afternoon at the beach or across the street, and meet us at the porte-cochère at your scheduled time. Tell us the plan when you confirm the day before on (808) 797-7950 so the driver knows to expect you coming from the bell desk rather than from a room. There is no additional charge for a later departure pickup — the roundtrip rate is the same whichever hours you use.
It can, and it is worth telling us. The property spans the twenty-nine-storey Ainahau Tower, the Diamond Head Wing, the Princess Wing and the Kaiulani Wing, each with its own elevators. On an early-morning departure the upper Ainahau floors are the slowest to get down from, because several hundred guests are calling the same lifts within the same half hour. When you book, name your tower or wing and we will add a few minutes for the high floors. It is a small piece of information that regularly saves a stressful ten minutes at 5:00 a.m.
The hotel is about seven miles from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport by way of H-1 East and Exit 23 at Punahou Street. With clear roads the drive is around twenty minutes. Through the weekday afternoon peak, or when the H-1 is congested near Nimitz, plan on thirty to thirty-five. We schedule to the longer figure rather than the optimistic one, and because we track your flight in real time, a delayed or early arrival moves your pickup automatically without you having to call. Live road conditions are published by the Hawaii Department of Transportation.
Not for the shuttle — if anything it helps. The Princess Kaiulani sits a block inland at the corner of Kalakaua and Kaiulani Avenue, so its drop-off is on a side street rather than on the beachfront stretch of Kalakaua where traffic barely moves in the afternoon. Beachfront hotels queue their vehicles; we usually do not. Getting to the sand from your room is a short walk across Kalakaua through the Moana Surfrider’s beach crossing. So the inland address costs you a few minutes of walking and saves you the arrival congestion.
For most guests here, comfortably. Covered self-parking at the Princess Kaiulani — in the garage it shares with the Moana Surfrider next door — runs roughly $45 per day with in-and-out privileges, before the rental itself or fuel. Over a week that is about $315 in parking alone. Our roundtrip transfer is one flat rate, covering one to two passengers, and this corner is walkable enough that a car mostly sits in the garage. If you do want to see the rest of the island, a private transfer or tour for the day you actually need it usually costs less than a week of parking.
That is most of what we do here. Our Mercedes Sprinter vans take an extended family and its bags in a single vehicle instead of splitting you across two rideshares that turn up at different times. Child car seats and booster seats are available at a small additional charge — select them when you book and tell us the children’s ages, and the seat is installed and the harness checked before your bags go in. The standard allowance is two checked bags per person plus a carry-on, included in the flat rate. If your group is larger than ten, call (808) 797-7950 so we can assign the right vehicle.
Nothing you need to do. We track every inbound flight in real time and shift your pickup to your actual landing time. You do not get charged a waiting fee for a delay that is not yours, and you will not find your driver gone because you came in forty minutes late. When you have your bags, call or text (808) 797-7950 from baggage claim and your driver will meet you at the ground transportation area. The official HNL airport site publishes terminal and baggage-claim layouts if you want to know where you are heading before you land.
Yes, for a small additional charge on top of the flat rate. Board bags, golf bags and boxed bicycles all travel with us; the one thing we ask is that you flag them at booking so we send a van with the space rather than discovering the problem at the kerb. Standard luggage — two checked bags per person plus a carry-on — is included and needs no notice. If you are unsure whether an item counts as oversized, call or text (808) 797-7950 and describe it; we would rather answer that question a week early than at baggage claim.
One-way is available. One-way transfers can be booked online at gowaikikishuttle.com/reserve-online/, or call (808) 797-7950 to book by phone. That said, most guests book roundtrip: at one flat rate it covers both the arrival and the departure, and it means your ride home is already scheduled rather than something you have to arrange from your room on the last night. Either way, the price is fixed when you book.
Booking 48 hours or more before arrival is ideal, and further ahead is better for groups over ten or for holiday weeks. Same-day and next-day requests are often possible — call (808) 797-7950 and we will tell you honestly whether we can cover it. Cancellations are subject to a 15% processing fee, with the remaining 85% refunded. Please give as much notice as you can. Changes to a time or passenger count, as opposed to a cancellation, are normally straightforward and free; the day-before confirmation call to (808) 797-7950 is a good moment to make them.
Three reasons that show up specifically at this hotel. First, price certainty — our rate is set at booking, while a rideshare fare from HNL on a Friday afternoon can run well above what it quoted you that morning. Second, capacity: a family of five with luggage does not fit in the car that turns up. Third, the drop-off — a rideshare driver following the address will often stop on Kalakaua, whereas we pull into the Kaiulani Avenue porte-cochère. Add flight tracking, and the case is fairly clear. Book at gowaikikishuttle.com/reserve-online.
For a mainland departure between 8:00 and 11:00 a.m., we generally recommend a pickup around three hours before wheels-up — earlier than a pure drive-time estimate suggests. The extra half hour is not padding: it absorbs the bell-desk queue in a 1,142-room lobby at check-out, the turn out of Kaiulani Avenue, and the westbound H-1 merge at Nimitz. Confirm the day before on (808) 797-7950 with your airline and terminal and we will fine-tune it against that airline’s check-in cutoff. Ready to book? Reserve at gowaikikishuttle.com/reserve-online or call (808) 797-7950.

Booking and Confirmation, Start to Finish

A trip to the Princess Kaiulani is usually planned months out and paid for over a year. The transportation is the cheapest part of it and the part most likely to sour the first hour — a no-show shuttle, a surge fare, a driver who stops on Kalakaua and leaves you to walk the last block with the bags. That first hour sets the tone for the whole stay, and it is entirely preventable.

We are a local family operation, PUC-licensed and driving this island since 2008. We know what a Hawaii trip costs a family to put together, and we do not think the ride from the airport should be the thing that goes wrong.

Three steps:

  1. Reserve at gowaikikishuttle.com/reserve-online, or call or text (808) 797-7950. Have your flight numbers, passenger count, and your tower or wing ready. Add car seats, a lei greeting or oversized items in the same step. Booking 48 hours ahead is ideal; same-day requests are often possible.
  2. Confirm the day before by calling or texting (808) 797-7950. We reconfirm your pickup time against your actual flight and your departure check-in cutoff.
  3. On landing, collect your bags, then call or text (808) 797-7950 from baggage claim. Your driver meets you at the ground transportation area. International travellers can reach us on WhatsApp on the same number.

Why Guests at the Princess Kaiulani Choose Go Waikiki Shuttle

  • PUC-licensed and commercially insured — the credential a rideshare driver does not hold
  • Luggage included — two checked bags per person plus a carry-on, handled at both ends
  • Drop-off at the door — into the Kaiulani Avenue porte-cochère, not on the Kalakaua sidewalk
  • WhatsApp available for international travellers
